Rail

The Campus is just a ten-minute walk away from the nearest mainline station at Lime Street. To reach the University Campus by foot, take the main exit and turn left into Lime Street; then turn left again at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel and continue up Brownlow Hill towards the Metropolitan Catholic Cathedral and Victoria Building with its clock tower. (It's going uphill a bit, so you probably want to avoid this option if you carry heavy luggage.)
Alternatively, take a taxi and ask to be dropped off at the Victoria Building on Brownlow Hill (The Victoria Building is building no. 21/22 on the University Precinct Map). The Ashton Building, where the conference/workshop takes place, is building no. 18 on the University Precinct Map just around the corner on Ashton Street. A satellite image can be found on Google Maps, where you can ask query for directions from an arbitrary start address.

Road

From the M62: at the end of the motorway continue straight ahead onto Edge Lane (A5080 then A5047) and follow signs for Liverpool City Centre and the University. Parking on the Campus is very limited and requires a University permit. All visitors should therefore use the nearest city council car park, which can be found at the bottom of Mount Pleasant, towards the City Centre.

Air

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is situated eight miles from the city. The main airlines operating from Liverpool John Lennon Airport are Ryanair and easyJet. So, the number of flight connections is a bit limited, but if you are (un)lucky enough to be able to use one of them, you might be able to pick up a cheap ticket.
The best way to get from the airport to Liverpool city centre or the University is by taxi or by express bus, located directly outside the entrance to the airport terminal. (There is no train station at the airport.)
If you take the express bus (Arriva Line 500), then it will drop you off at Liverpool Lime Street Station. From there follow the instructions for Rail travel.

Manchester Airport offers more comprehensive connections to the world including intercontinental flights. Your local travel agency should easily be able to organise a flight to Manchester Airport for you wherever you are.
